The Arts are essential to a healthy and robust society. When artists can freely engage with practices that develop well-being and insight they can help sustain the vision and atmosphere needed for a thriving world. Here at Origins, we want to support the creative nature of humanity in the ways that we can. By making mindfulness, meditation, yoga and other nourishing practices available to artists we hope their work can be coupled with good mental health, optimism and respect.
The Origins Artist Residency program is open to emerging and experienced artists of all ages and disciplines.
Each residency lasts from one to four weeks. Each artist gets a private room with power for accommodation, a cabin in the forest for a studio (two have no power, one does have power), access to a workshop and to a beautiful space with great acoustics for movement or music making. We have shared facilities for cooking, washing and ablutions. A cultural contribution of a workshop, artist talk, performance or donation of an artwork is suggested, but not required.

We are particularly seeking regional/local artists but we are very much open to interstate or international artists.

Outline of Accomdation Costs
In order to cover accomodation costs during your artist residency, we ask for a payment of:
  • 1 week - $175.00
  • 2 weeks - $325.00
  • 4 weeks - $600.00
For more information, or to submit a preliminary proposal please contact scott.origins@gmail.com. Your proposal should include:
  • How you intend to utilise your stay.
  • The time-frame you wish to stay (we offer 1-4 week residencies).
  • How you intend to pay for the residency, either self-funded or with a grant (we can offer a letter of support if needed).
  • Examples of your work.
  • Links to websites.
  • What cultural contribution you could make to the community? Artist talk, open studio, workshop, donation of work, etc?

From here a dialogue will begin and we can work towards a potential residency.

Anne Clark is a Co-Director at the Origins Centre and teacher of pottery and mindfulness. We have a purpose built, fully equipped cabin with attached studio and kilns that are available. Potters please inquire through Anne via origins@iinet.net.au.
