Origins Centre Update 6th November 2019
Both Chim and Anne have personal responsibilities that take time in 2020. Chim particularly needs more flexibility. The committee is having discussions about the best way to organise things. As a result, there will be no new bookings made for 2020 until November 20th 2019. It will still be a good year!!
There will be more emphasis on local community next year, and Kindy will continue as always. The arts will continue but be changed.
In 2020, we are seeking a capable caretaker with maintenance skills, who would be asked to give 2.5 hours each morning from Monday to Thursday. They would receive an independent accommodation (rm. 10) and amenities, as well as have access to the teachings and all retreats given by resident teachers from Coorain. They could also, of course, have their own studies, art, etc..
Our main concern now is fire safety and water conservation. It has been a very dry year so everyone is paying attention. We are doing firebreaks and fuel reduction.
As we unfold this project towards building an income for back of house, it has become more apparent that people are gladly willing to participate, but also very busy and needing support for things to work well. Scott has just moved to Melbourne and is still settling in. Chim is enthusiastic about the possibilities though and will concentrate on supporting contributors who create the recordings to be podcast. We will get there and announce a new launch date when we can.
They do live here too, although shy of people. Be careful and observant. When walking the paths, take a walking stick and thump the ground occasionally to tell the deaf snakes there’s someone around. The thing is to avoid surprises.
- Thank you Den for all the electrical work to illuminate the steps to the Rotunda and the Pagoda area. It’s a great help with quality gear.
- Luke for being flexible with his hours needed to repair the gable on the Rotunda.
- Selk for her movement sessions which raised a generous donation.
- All the considerate course givers who encourage their friends to support and understand Origins.
- Anne for providing chairs.
- Thanks to Mo and the Bunbury Yoga Group for your generous fundraiser
When an event says 'Overnight guests welcome,' guests can stay Fri-Mon (or part thereof). Please book accommodation by sending an e-mail to the office: firstname.lastname@example.org. For retreats / weekends where this is not specified, please contact the course provider for accommodation bookings.
Clay and Mindfulness Weekend with Anne- 9 & 10 November
This weekend will combine Traditional Mindfulness with the exploration of touch and the senses through clay exploration and exercises. The simple exercises prime the hands to feel, and 'see for themselves' through touch, bringing more awareness to the body and as an avenue for the mind to come to a calm, absorbed, restful but alert state. The making of a pot and the setting up of Mindfulness share many similarities.
Classes will run for about one and a half hours at 9.30 and 3.30 Saturday and 9.30 Sunday.
Materials will be supplied, and classes are by donation.
Please register your attendance with Anne at email@example.com or 97641275

Vocal Workshop with Beth - 23 November
This 2 hour workshop is all about sounds and rhythm to produce music as a group. It's completely vocal and will appeal to all ages from young to older. Our voice is our main way of expression, furthermore creating sounds with a group encourages feelings of unity and joy. We will play with making vocal sounds, layering, creating rhythm, and also include some practices to help us align with our throat centre (Vishuddhi chakra) as well as postures to open the throat. So come along, find your voice and create some music! Cost by donation to Origins Centre.
