Dry weather continues although this morning's dew was very wet. Many big trees are suffering, but others are thriving and people are preparing to plant - as in the park development at the intersection of Lukis and Walter streets. Citizens and council cooperate in the name of Jenny de Garis. Thank you one and all. There is a dedication of the park this Sunday 14th at mid morning.
NATURAL PERSPECTIVES The on-site practice ground slowly unfolds. All that maintains our love of nature is good for us all on many levels, it's good for Origins to have a strong focus on ecological help. Thank you Kip and friends. Thank you Bibbulmun Track. Thanks to the traditional indigenous elders for your encouragement and support around caring for country - including traditional burning.
COURSE PROVIDERS AND SERVICES The goodwill, skill and encouragement you provide is the life blood of Origins. Thanks to Adam and Kate, Gaia, Darryll and Anne for your good work in recent times. There are upcoming courses in mindfulness with Chim and nature based exploration with Kip. As well as future courses with Ian, Deniz, Mel and Natalia. People come for respite, refuge, teaching and, of course, for work. Volunteers are generous. Kindy is wonderful. Dedicated sharing is all around; and dana, dana, dana.
CONGRATULATIONS Greenpeace International and a group of older women in Switzerland have successfully sued climate polluters in the European Court of Human Rights. It is the first time a citizens group has won so thoroughly, may the good news spread, this action sets a significant precedent for the future of climate mitigation. Thank you to Kristin and her team. Kristin is General Legal Council for Greenpeace International.
SCHEDULE CHANGE Chime has a mindfulness weekend coming up on the 13th and 14th April, the Sunday class will now commence at 8:30 - 10am to allow Chime to attend the Park Dedication. Please note that anyone is welcome to any of these mindfulness sessions.
ORIGINS SHOP Thank you to all who have contributed so well to stocking our little shop. Things have sold well, building support for Origins. We are ready for more stock...if you are able to contribute product it would be very helpful.
WORKING WITH CHILDREN Our police checks have been accepted, this is good because our work with children is growing, so we have to be up to date with regulations.
MAY RETREAT The May retreat with Chime goes from Saturday 11th May till Sunday 19th May. There are 3 rooms and 1 cabin still available. Local people are free to come during the first weekend, or to do the entire retreat whilst sleeping off site.
WORKERS NEEDED We particularly like to encourage applications from young adults. Please contact chim@originscentre.org
FACEBOOK STREAMING Chim is back on Tuesdays (8:10 - 8:50am) and Anne on Fridays (7:30 - 8:30am) both are available for personal instruction, either online or in person.
WATER Everyone is trying to conserve water, and be aware of usage. Buying it in is costly and often to difficult to do. Dams are drying up. Origins, like many other places, is not on town water. Animals really using our birdbaths :) If you are coming to a course maybe you can bring 10 or 20 litres of potable water. Just a thought....but it all helps.
CLIMATE Our global problem can be helped locally by how we act and what we do. Shared principals and gladly given cooperation are encouraging! Here's to dedication!
GENERATIONAL GROWTH We all hear stories about families and the gradual growth of young adults, it's always good to see and hear about this as people continue to grow throughout life. It's great to remember as an antidote to the many down sides.
FRIENDS AND GUESTS You are the encouragement, the vitality and aspiration - thank you one and all. It is joy to come together here at Origins.
