Origins Centre Update 11th November 2020 SPRING PICNIC- 15th November We are opening more and want to celebrate with you! Kids are very welcome! It has been a long time since we could easily meet together at Origins and we really look forward to sharing time, food and friendship. You can also catch up on all that’s in the works here. 2021 is looking to be an interesting year. There will also be a raffle with great prizes. All funds go to Origins. Bring a plate of food to share if you like. ENVIRONMENT Well, it IS spring and so everything is growing! Thankfully, there is water enough so far. The hill is being managed as well as we can, in spite of new, very invasive weeds like cleavers weed (gallium aparine). We have now cleared the firebreaks for the season ahead. Thank you enviro workers!!
CURATED PROGRAM We now have four dedicated curators, one for each of four weeks per month. The idea of this is to strengthen the power of our own networks rather than to advertise for users. This way, our events build community more directly. Friends who regularly use Origins for their retreats will be prioritised. We very much welcome you and we’ll consider our program around your needs.
SCOTT: THE ARTS - 1st weekend of each month On the first weekend of every month, Scott will curate a selection of workshops, retreats and performances, centred around the arts. Each weekend will focus on a different art form or creative practise including; painting, pottery, music, poetry, imagination based practise and more. Expressions of interest to firstname.lastname@example.org
CHIM : MINDFULNESS AND MEDITATION - 2nd weekend The ‘Setting up of Mindfulness’ is the root exercise that lays a foundation for meditation for those that want to meditate. ‘Setting Up’ is very supportive of mental health.
MELINDA: HEALTH AND WELLBEING - 3rd weekend Nourish: Health & Wellbeing Weekends & Retreats On the third weekend of every month, Melinda will curate a variety of health and wellbeing modalities which are aligned with the Origins Centres values, with a high focus on supporting local South-West practitioners to deliver workshops and retreats, attracting participants locally and from the city.
KIP: MINDFULNESS AND NATURE - 4th weekend On the fourth weekend of every month, Kip will curate a variety of nature based workshops which are aligned with the Origins Centres values. The intent is to attract local South-West practitioners from fields such as environmental activism, deep ecology, conservation and Indigenous culture.
If you are making a general inquiry about running your own course at Origins, please email the office: email@example.com
DUTY MANAGERS We do need people to attend as duty managers each weekend (in 2021). There are general duties, mainly helping those attending a course and assigning jobs - we will guide you through it, of course. It’s a great opportunity to get training and exposure to skills. If you can help any of the time or regularly , it would really help us ensure the best service and a hassle free environment. Please contact Chim: firstname.lastname@example.org The duty manager can attend the courses they look after.
ONLINE We now have our own dedicated device for the Rotunda! Our online services continue in 2021 with coverage of courses, particularly mindfulness. Tuesday and Friday mindfulness will continue to be streamed on our fb page. We’ll keep you informed.
