The seasons are changing, or so it seems, the Balingup Brook is flowing strongly; the soil is full of water and everything is growing.
VOLUNTEERS AND WORKERS Fortunately friends have been coming down and volunteering, needless to say there is always work to do. We also have a small cohort of young adults training, working and receiving a small bursary for their support. We are thankful to their families for their interest and support. The workers are mostly governed by Joshua and Kip, if you would like to help the Centre please contact [email protected]
EARLY EDUCATION CONFERENCE We are planning an on-line “speak and listen” conference for people working professionally in early education. There are quite a few experienced people associated with Origins and we are keen to hear their views. Perhaps Origins can contribute more than we do. We extend our thanks to them all. SEPTEMBER RETREAT 7th - 15th Sept 2024 This retreat is primarily for those who have attended at least one weekend mindfulness course here at Origins. Practice over the September retreat is more focused on meditative absorption. People can also learn some helpful tools for effective practice. Contact [email protected]
RESPITE More people are seeking respite, we are a very affordable and a safe space in a beautiful setting. Origins is itself an expression of common aspiration for a safe, thriving, just and fair culture.
KINDY Anne has returned from the UK. Kindy will be back to normal and Anne’s capable self is very welcome back home!

Upcoming Events at Origins
September Retreat - 7th to 15th September This is a wonderful opportunity to calmly develop the setting up of Mindfulness and expand that into insight meditation, in a safe, natural and supported environment. Chim will lead this retreat, a teacher of many years experience.The aim is to deepen calm and confidence, building a practice that opens naturally suitable to your needs. Yoga Immersion: core teachings of yoga & how they apply to asana, pranayama & meditation- with Deniz & Graeme- 26th to 30th September Immerse yourself in a 5 day (4 nights) yoga bubble in the tranquility of Origins. Graeme Hodges and Deniz Orak will hold the space to sink deeply into the art of yoga. In addition to daily physical and energetic practice in asana, pranayama and meditation, we also include a 70 minute workshop on 3 days to learn more about the underlying philosophy of yoga. Mindfulness - Clay - Hands weekend with Anne - 5th & 6th October Anne Clark will lead this weekend in the exploration of mindfulness married with clay and hands as the vehicle to the inner imagination. Mindfulness Weekend with Chim - 12th & 13th October Mindfulness practice is in harmony with all others dedicated to developing an engaged and helpful way of living. The exercise at the core of Chim's mindfulness weekends is a brief meditative exercise for inner calm, awareness and transformation. Weekend Retreats & Dana Deposit to Confirm Booking A wonderful balance of health, art, nature and mindfulness with these weekend retreats. Appreciation to everyone for contributing to such a vibrant centre full of good energy and creativity. We will be asking people planning on attending retreats to make a $60 - $100 non refundable contribution to your dana for accommodation to confirm your booking ($100 for the May and September retreats).

GOVERNANCE The Origins Committee of Management has full responsibility for all administration, management, landcare, finance, maintenance, media and teaching at OC and Coorain. The responsibility is represented on-site by committee members or on-site duty managers. Many friends help. OC is a registered, charitable not-for-profit NGO that offers its services, land and infrastructure on a donation basis. Origins is run and used by volunteers and supported by core paid work.
