Welcome back to another year of exploration, teaching and companionship. The weather is keeping us on our toes, so is fire and water. Culture of care is growing in the community.
FEBRUARY 4TH MEETING This meeting was held to declare our common ground around refuge and dharma, that is to say respite and mutual care. We all gathered at Origins to enjoy food, review these vital principles and to continue team building. It was an enjoyable day, positive and supportive.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE We continue to establish particular tasks for individuals, things are working well in this regard. From time to time we need new staff, and you will hear about this. As always many thanks to all who participate. We recognise the value of each person. Everyone gives what they can and there are some who regularly volunteer quite a lot of their time.
NATURAL PERSPECTIVES Kip and friends are building a beautiful campsite above the rocky outcrop at Origins, for up to three campers at a time. The first plan is to have the guests of Natural Perspectives camping on a Friday evening. The first plan is that guests will camp Friday night, then go walking and learning with Kip, camping in the bush. They will return to Origins on Sunday and then depart home. The campsite will have its own water and composting loo. It should be in service by early March. Contact Kip at email@example.com ROOM 10 Stage by stage room 10 is almost done. It should serve our course providers well.
RESPITE The need for refuge and respite is growing and we are gradually organising in response with cleaners, oversight and services…stay tuned.
BON VOYAGE To dear friend Siera. They are off to Berlin to continue their music composition and performance. Bring it back home one day Siera!! Good fortune and good health to you. Many thanks for making the journey.
WELCOME BACK Shavi has been away for 2 months with family and friends, and a drive right across the country with Dolma. Great that it all went well! PRIVATE MEETING (ON LINE OR IN PERSON) Chim has long offered this service, and that continues. Kip takes 2 or 3 people camping at a time. Please contact Chim or Kip if you would like a one on one with them.
BUSH REGEN Even with the present dry conditions and heat, the bush around Origins is OK. We keep water in the bird baths, which all the animals at the moment seem to appreciate. ORIGINS FACEBOOK PAGEJohn and his daughter Tara are now contributing - many thanks to them, and of course to Beth. Please note, future enquiries about facebook now go through Melinda instead of Marissa.
NUNS Hi friends of the Nuns of the Karmapa in Rumtek, Sikkim. What a wonderful past year of support from so many people within our circle, who have continued with regular support money being placed into the dedicated nuns account which Origins Centre holds in trust for the nuns. The Abbess, Ani Tsultrim is a competent and caring woman in her 40’s, who with the support of other senior nuns, is caring and educating about 30 younger girls and women, a true therapeutic community. We have been providing ongoing support for the welfare of these practitioners, with the traditional offerings of food, clothing, medicine and shelter. It is thanks to all of you, wonderful friends, who help to make this happen, for the many years since first meeting the nuns in 1997. Future travel to visiting Sikkim. Em Harper will be heading to Sikkim in the month of April to spend some time with the nuns, a trip she has done many times. Thank you Em, she will be offering her friendship, support and expertise with the nuns. Due to the state of the roads, Anne has decided to travel in September/October 2024 for a safer guided trip with some of you who would like to travel with her, some to revisit. If you would like to be included in this travel, contact firstname.lastname@example.org I have not checked out travel details and if you would like to help with this please let me know, thanks.
